As we are working with the skill of summary writing, notice how in every event there is a beginning, middle, and an end. Also keep in mind that every event has many details, however, not all of them are important. As you think about any event, ask yourself, what details are important (hint: the most important details have an impact on the outcome of an event).

Equivalent fractions- workbook Exercise 1 on pages 67-68.
Challenge problem- Mrs. Jees ordered a cake for the family. She ate 1/8 of it and her two sons ate 1/4 of it. What fraction of the cake was left? If there were 5 other people in the family, could they evenly split what was left? What if there were 10 other people in the family- could they evenly split what was left?

Today, Daniela's grandmother, Mrs. Higgins, a former fourth grade teacher, came and presented Charles Shultz's Happiness Is... In addition to hearing the story, the children wrote and shared what they thought happiness was for them. A lovely meditation on what really matters, and particularly apropos for this season, nearly all the children noted that personal relationships were what they prized the most.

Math challenge- Lady Gaga sells her hamburgers for $3 each in the morning. The price drops to $2.50 each in the afternoon. On Sunday, Lady Gaga made $120.00 in the morning. In the afternoon she sold twice as many burgers. How much did she make on Sunday? 1. On a piece of paper write each new word in a sentence.
2. Twenty minutes of RAA Mork and Zork each bought the same laser blaster. In addition, Mork bought a brain disintegrator and Zork bought a skull neutralizer. The brain disintegrator cost $60.00. Find the cost of the skull neutralizer if Zork spent $1,810.00 and Mork spent $1,840.00.
